SEPTEMBER 2005

On September 27th, Anita Woodhouse (aka Mrs Posh!) of Radio Hereford and Worcester (click here to visit their website where you can listen online!) visited the Methodist Centre in Bromsgrove to speak to the members of Chris Harten's advanced flower arranging class, as part of the Katie Johnson programme, which goes out live each weekday morning from 9.30am - 12.30pm. Anita talked to Chris and other members of the class, most of whom are members of our Society! Of course, we had to take some photos of the occasion, and these are shown below. Run your mouse over the photos for a description of each photo!

On March 9th 2004, the Princess Royal visited North East Worcestershire College in Redditch, to officially open the new Peakman Building. Our Secretary, Chris Harten, is a flower arranging tutor at the College, and was asked to make a bouquet to be presented to the Princess by one of the College students. The picture on the left shows the Princess carrying the bouquet of roses and spring flowers, which Chris made. Our very own "webster" and secretary, Chris Harten, has appeared in Moneywise, the UK's biggest selling financial magazine (http://www.moneywise.co.uk), in an article about building websites.

Chris's website, A Flower Arranger's Garden, was chosen as one of the best examples of a website built by a non-technical person (i.e. someone who doesn't design websites for a living). The article explored how easy it is for someone to build their own website, and Chris was interviewed in June about how she built hers. The article appeared on page 60 of the August 2003 edition of the magazine.

SEPTEMBER 2002

One of our members, Irene Morrison, has scooped third prize overall in the Redditch Best Garden Competition for the second year running. The standard of entries this year was again very high, and we send Irene our congratulations on her success.

SEPTEMBER 2001

We were delighted to learn that one of our members, Irene Morrison, has scooped third prize overall in the Redditch Best Garden Competition. This is a real achievement, as there were more entries in the competition than in any previous year, and the standard was extremely high.

MARCH 2001

Bromsgrove and District Flower Arranging Society were honoured to have been asked to provide flower arrangements and posies for the opening ceremony of a new annexe to North Bromsgrove High School. This was opened by HER MAJESTY THE QUEEN on March 1st 2001.

A team of six members were chosen to arrange the flowers, and these were:

Sheila Blankstone, Suzie Carter, Gill Eley, Pam Gattas, Chris Harten and Jean Ward.

Pictures of the flowers and more details of the event can be found HERE
